Arbel Symetric on display 1958

The Arbel-Symétric (aka Arbel Symmetric) is a concept car designed by Compagnie Normande d'Etudes pour l'Application de Procédés Mécaniques and produced for experimental purposes. The Arbel-Symétric was to be powered by a "genestatom", a 40-KW nuclear thermal generator using radioactive cartridges made of nuclear waste. The nuclear fuel-heating source would only need to be switched out every five years. Among the space-age features on the Symétric were swiveling captains seats and glow-in-the-dark phosphorescent bumpers. The French government however did not approve of nuclear powered vehicles of any kind and thus mass production and public distribution of this car never occurred.
